The life of a busy and often tired mother does not really have time for a beauty regimen. But, a routine for looking after your skin is important to retain your self-confidence and youthfulness. If you are always tired, the first thing to do is get a checkup done to eliminate any underlying health issues. Low levels of Iron, Zinc, Vitamins and Minerals are often the reason for tired and dead looking skin. A few simple tips can be the solution to this perennial dilemma. Just follow these steps in progression
1. Clean
your skin thoroughly every night. It is imperative that you keep your skin absolutely free of dust and grime that accumulates on it during the day. You need to remove the makeup you apply very carefully. The pores get clogged, and you might end up with blackheads and whiteheads, and god forbid acne!
You can use a scrub twice a week to gently exfoliate the dead skin to make it soft and smooth. A simple deep cleansing face wash should be enough. If you like natural products a gram flour and milk cream face wash is a good option. Keep it mixed in the fridge for 4-5 uses. A simple deep cleansing milk followed by a thorough wash is a good way to keep your skin sparkling. It hardly takes a couple of minutes.
2. Toning
Toning is as important as cleaning your face. It should be done immediately after cleaning. You need to tighten the pores that open up during the cleaning. Use a dab of cold rose water or a little cucumber juice. You can extract and keep in a bottle in the refrigerator for up to a week. It keeps the skin tight and supple. This step hardly takes thirty seconds.
3. Moisturizing
Moisturizing is the next important process that you need to apply if you want glowing skin with minimum effort. A good quality moisturizer all over your body requires only a couple of minutes. Slather yourself up well, especially if you need the air conditioner, as it dries up your skin.
4. Use a good under eye cream.
A good under eye cream is effective in removing bags and dark circles. Dark circles can make you look much older than you really are and a minute of mindfulness can be the antidote to that.
5. Night cream
A night cream is a ritual that you cannot miss. The heavy cream is anti-ageing and adds a layer of protection to your face. It has a host of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that keep your skin youthful. You should start using a night cream from the late twenties onwards.
The miniscule time you spend every night on your beauty routine will be enough to keep you youthful and beautiful for years. Do not lose sight of the fact that it may seem trivial, but this ‘Me’ time will go a long way in ensuring your mental health is stable too. Mothers can lose perspective and stop taking care of themselves after a baby comes along. Take this opportunity to create a peaceful time when you give yourself a pampering you deserve.
