Sanitizers are an option when you don't have access to soap and water. Why sanitizer? The reason is squirted a little on your hands, rub it and you are germs free. But, as we know, a sanitizer contains a minimum of 60% alcohol, it may not be suitable for kids to use. It is completely fine for adults to use alcohol-based sanitizers but, some studies say they should not be used by infants or toddlers. Although most of the alcohol is evaporated when rubbed, some are percolated or absorbed through the skin and reaches the bloodstream.
However, there has not been any report or study that suggests sanitizers become the reason for skin rashes or allergies. Putting skin factor apart, your small kid can lick his hands before the complete evaporation of alcohol. Therefore, it is preferred to use natural or alcohol-free sanitizer for your small children (Infants and toddlers only). For children (above 2), it's completely fine to use alcohol-based sanitizers when properly rubbed and used.
